  • Pathfinder Week of Prayer/Pathfinder Day

Announced by Anonymous on Sep 03 2013

    Dear Fellow Counselors,

It is that time of the year again. The Pathfinder Week and Day are already close. Our office has consulted with the ZBUC Youth office concerning the Pathfinder Day (14th September 2013). We have been encouraged to hold the Pathfinder Day as a full-fledged programmed activity. Those intending to run the week of prayer (8-14th September 2013) may proceed to do so under the theme, “Remember” and the Hymn “Trust and Obey” (40 Local Hymn; 590 SDAH). The Sabbath sermon for the Pathfinder Day is herewith attached. So, let me ask a fundamental question: Why Do We Need the Pathfinder Day?

The Pathfinder Administrative Manual discusses this question in length. On page 199 you will find a summary of the six objectives of Pathfinder Day:

    1. Give official recognition and encouragement to the Pathfinder Club in the local church.

    2. Acquaint the congregation with the scope of possibilities offered by the Pathfinder Club in the development of our junior youth.

    3. Encourage greater cooperation and support of the local Pathfinder Club by the congregation.

    4. Recruit additional Pathfinder staff members.

    5. Give the Pathfinder Club members a greater sense of belonging to the church by their active participation in the worship hour.

    6. Give an opportunity for the church to provide more financial assistance for the club by giving a special Pathfinder Club offering during the worship hour. By vote of the local church board, the church offering on this day may be appropriated to the local Pathfinder Club.

This is the day to present to the church the objectives of the Pathfinder Club and appeal for dedicated church members to volunteer as staff members. They could work as instructors, counselors, junior counselors, deputy directors, chaplains, directors, etc.

May the Lord bless you as lead the church to an appreciation of the Pathfinder Work.

  • Women Ministries Emphasis Day

Announced by Anonymous on May 30 2013

Women's Ministries Emphasis Day is on the Church's Calendar of Days and Events and falls on the second Sabbath each June. It is an opportunity for women to lead out in a worship service and a chance to educate the church regarding the purposes of Women's Ministries. It is an ideal time to introduce your leaders and committee to the church family and to invite women who have not been involved to join.

The Women's Ministries leader should meet with the pastor at least six months prior to this day to discuss special plans for this Sabbath. This is a possible opportunity to plan a full day of activities including Sabbath School, the worship service, a fellowship dinner, and perhaps an afternoon program. The leader may also want to use this time to honor women in the congregation who have done something unusual or outstanding. Resources for this purpose are available through the Conference Women's Ministries director.

We are delighted to be able to bring to you the 2013 WM Emphasis Day program packet entitled "Revive Your Work In Me" A Prayer of Habakkuk, prepared by Cecelia M. Iglesias, WM Director for the Inter-American Division (IAD) and edited by John M. Fowler and Carolyn Kujawa. You will find the program packet at http://adventistwomensministries.org/index.php?id=123

You may print it and reproduce it if you'd like to share it with others. We encourage you to use it in your church's WM Emphasis Day program on June 8, 2013.

For week of prayer materials for those churches having a week of prayer from the 2nd to the 7th, contact the conference Women’s Ministries Director Sr. Ngondo on 0972421989.
